ABOUT THE PROJECT
Regional areas come with their own rich musical stories. This project was designed to share just a few of the stories and information about music within living memory from the areas around Camperdown, Cobden, and Terang in Victoria’s south west, Australia.

Laura Flanagan - Researcher
Laura holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Music Education from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Fine Arts, Interdisciplinary Arts, Musicology and Cultural Anthropology. Her research interests include the history of music scenes in regional areas of west Texas and Australia. Laura’s dissertation focuses on the intangible heritage and collective memory of music in south west Victoria. In addition to orchestral training on double bass, she taught public school orchestra for 15 years. Laura teaches and performs traditional Irish music on the fiddle in the United States and Australia where she is currently a secondary teacher at Mercy Regional College.
